Basick bands pulled from Mammothfest.

Friday 25th June 10

Disappointingly, we just received the following statement from Mammothfest owner, Steve Dickson:

"Due to unforseen circumstances we regret to inform BASICK RECORDS of our decision to pull Bury Tomorrow, Monuments and Between the Screams from our line up for 2010.

It was our original intention to provide a diverse range of metal genres present at Mammothfest 2010 which is why we booked these bands in the first place!

However It has become clear through a lack of ticket sales in certain areas we deem it necessary to be more genre specific and focus on the bands/genres selling tickets.

Also due to the recent announcement of our direct competitor, Ozzfest and their line up on the same day there is the heightened need for Mammothfest to make changes to ensure we remain a successful business enabling us to grow to provide the diversity we have always strived for, in the future.

We have great respect for Basick records, the bands and their fans and sincerely apologise for any dissapointment this may cause. We very much wish to maintain and grow our relationship with Basick records and hope to bring you a Basick records stage at Mammothfest in years to come, for now we admit the need to streamline our line up to maximises our product value to the majority of our customers.

We thank you for your understanding."

All tickets purchased directly from Basick will of course be refunded in full immediately.

ION DISSONANCE to release new album with BASICK!

Posted in: ION DISSONANCE

Thursday 3rd June 10

Ion Dissonance!

We're as happy as pigs in sh*t to announce that on the 23rd of August 2010 we'll be releasing 'Cursed', the new album from ION DISSONANCE throughout Europe!
As longstanding fans of the band, we're utterly stoked and honoured to be working with one of the true pioneers of extreme and technical music.

Here's a statement from the bands vocalist, Kevin McCaughey, regarding the new album and ION's new bassist:

"Since 'Cursed' is now recorded, mixed and mastered we want to take a moment to clarify a few points. We have been getting asked a lot of questions and we want to make sure that we are all on the same level and answer these questions once and for all.

A few release dates have been getting thrown around and we wanted to put the questions to rest. The official release date for 'Cursed' in the U.S and Canada is scheduled for August 24th 2010. Also, our new friends at Basick Records will be releasing 'Cursed' in Europe. The record will be out there on August 23rd. And finally, Doom Patrol in Japan will be releasing the record there on August 24th as well. Both the European and the Japanese versions will have their own exclusive tracks, more info on that later.

To fill you in on this situation, we were originally planning on an earlier release date but unfortunately we encountered a few obstacles along the way (Mastering). This made an earlier release date impossible. Another perfect example is the art work. We wanted to work with Paul Romano for the art work on 'Cursed'. Paul is obviously very busy and we felt that waiting for his services was a better option than looking elsewhere. We love Paul's work and are insistent on having him follow up his work on 'Minus The Herd'. So now that we have the artwork in hand we can definitely say that the wait was worth it.

All this to say that when Ion Dissonance decided to get together over a year ago to come out with our best work to date, we wanted to take every little detail into consideration to make sure this record was everything we ever wanted an Ion Dissonance record to be.

With that being said, we'll move on to another situation which needs to be addressed. After 3 long years of winging it as a 4 piece, we are now back to 5 members. Yannick Desgroseillers formerly of "Tears From The Sky" has now joined the ranks of Ion Dissonance and will be playing bass; a role Sebastien has been filling in on since Xavier left the band 3 years ago. This switch will allow us to play some new songs on our upcoming shows, which to us is an unbelievable excitement. We can't wait to get out on the road this summer and see some familiar faces. It's been too long"

So there you have it. Pretty awesome news, huh?
Details of pre-order bundles and a full European Tour will follow shortly!
